In an effort to minimize the amount of testing administered to students on a given day, the Onteora High School is spreading out the midterm examination window from January 15th through January 25th. The National Honor Society is collecting canned food donations during the months of January and February to support the Reservoir Food Pantry. Canned food donations can be dropped of at the high school's reception desk or in the guidance office.
Congratulations to the 11 Onteora students who competed in the Region 3 New York State DECA competitions, held on January 4 at Rockland Community College. Sabrina Storey placed 3rd in Food Marketing Management, which qualified her to go on to the New York DECA State Career conference in March. Angelo Musillo also qualified to compete at the New York State level in Principles of Marketing Management. DECA’s mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.

The Ulster County Career Conference is a collaboration of school counselors at high schools throughout Ulster County to prepare students for college and career after graduation. Onteora, New Paltz, Kingston, Ellenville, Saugerties, Rondout and Highland High Schools will send 11th graders to the SUNY Ulster campus on Wednesday, March 13th to interact with professionals in career areas of their interest.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019 New York State Summer School of the Arts (NYSSSA). NYSSSA provides approximately 400 of New York's most talented students the opportunity to study with professionals in the visual and performing arts. Students in grades 8-12 throughout New York State are encouraged to apply to one of seven schools: Theatre, Ballet, Modern Dance, Orchestral Studies, Choral Studies, Visual Arts, or Media Arts.
