Five Onteora High School Students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on May 9. The honored students are enrolled in various trade programs at the Career & Technical Center in Port Ewen. Congratulations to: Nicholas Boccio (Digital Design), Dylan Diehl (Cisco & Cybersecurity), Samuel Joseph-Brewster (Web-Based Entrepreneurship & Business), Audrey VanBlarcom, (Health Occupations Exploration Program), and Chasity Wilber (Health Occupations Exploration Program).
Onteora High School has earned a spot on the U.S. News & World Report’s listing of the best U.S. High Schools in 2019. Onteora is ranked 173rd in New York State, the highest among high schools in Ulster County.
Among the factors taken into account in Onteora’s ranking was the school’s advanced placement (AP) participation rate, which is 40 percent, as well as its graduation rate (95 percent). The U.S. News & World Report’s “scorecard” for Onteora also took note that mathematics proficiency among students stands at 92 percent, and reading proficiency at 93 percent
