Classroom Expectations:
- All school rules apply in the classroom.
- Come to class on time. If you are late, enter the room quietly.
- Be prepared. Bring all of your materials* to class every day.
- Hand in completed assignments on time.
- Please participate in class. It truly helps you learn more.
- Raise your hand to ask or answer questions.
- Listen to staff and to each other.
- Do your own work, unless you are directed to work with others.
- Plagiarism is unacceptable. Think for yourself. Identify your sources.
- If you are absent, find out what work you missed, complete the work and hand it in.
- Act respectfully toward yourself, other students, and the staff in the classroom.
- Keep the classroom neat. Be respectful of materials.
- Let me know if you would like extra help outside of class.
English 12 intensive is designed to improve reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. This class provides additional support and instruction in all four areas. Senior English is the last course in the four-year sequence of English courses required for graduation in New York State. Students will read and analyze short stories, poems, novels, plays and essays from the 12th grade anthology in addition to a variety of other literature. The class is designed to improve and refine skills and to begin preparing for the expectations that the students will face in the world outside of high school whether in be in a college classroom or the working world. The students will be expected to write journals, essays, poems and projects. The course is designed to meet the needs of students with individual learning styles and provide students with lower adult to student ratios to support differentiated learning

Essays – 6 points each (4 per quarter) Participation – 10 points
Commonplace book – 10 points Quarterly project – 12 points
Quarterly speech – 14 points Vocabulary – 10 points

Ø If you are absent, classwork will be assigned as homework.
Ø Late homework will lose ten points a day. It will be accepted for three days.
