Event Descriptions
Senior Scholarship Award Application – Due Wednesday, May 13: All seniors are reminded to complete the Senior Scholarship Award Application available in the Class of 2026 Google Classroom (12 - Counseling Center). This application is essential for consideration for a variety of scholarship awards, whether your future plans include college, military service, or entering the workforce. The scholarship committee will soon meet to match students to scholarships based on their accomplishments, extracurriculars, and future plans. If you are undecided, please list two possible majors. Completing this application ensures you are considered for both in-house and community scholarships.
Senior Prom – Friday, May 29: This year’s Senior Prom is scheduled on a school day. To be eligible to attend, seniors must be present at school for at least four class periods on that day. This attendance policy helps maintain academic focus while allowing students to participate in this special event.
Senior Class Meeting – Tuesday, June 2 (prior to Senior Summit): A brief meeting will be held in the auditorium at the start of first period before seniors depart for Belleayre. The meeting will cover all end-of-year activities, including important information about the graduation ceremony. Additionally, the advisors for Belleayre Bash will share details about the all-night graduation celebration.
Senior Summit – Tuesday, June 2: Our annual Senior Summit at Belleayre provides students an opportunity to engage with professionals on a range of post-graduation topics, such as financial literacy and basic auto maintenance. This valuable event helps prepare seniors for life after high school. Separate communication will follow with permission forms and further details.
Senior Class Picnic – Friday, June 5: During periods 7-9, faculty and staff will host a senior picnic for all graduating students. The event features food, desserts, and a relaxed atmosphere for socializing and celebrating. Seniors will receive their yearbooks and have the opportunity to collect signatures and memories from classmates.
Senior Scholarship Awards Ceremony – Wednesday, June 10 (6 P.M.): The Senior Scholarship and Awards Ceremony will take place at 6:00 P.M. in the auditorium. Graduating seniors receiving scholarships or awards will receive email invitations, but the event is open to everyone. The Onteora community has generously contributed over $400,000 in awards and scholarships—thank you for your ongoing support.
Graduation Rehearsal – Friday, June 26 (9 A.M.): All seniors planning to participate in the graduation ceremony must attend rehearsal at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 26. The rehearsal will cover the ceremony process in detail, ensuring everyone is prepared. At the end of rehearsal, students will receive their caps, gowns, and five priority seating tickets in case of inclement weather.
Graduation Ceremony – Friday, June 26 (6 P.M.): Commencement will be held at 6:00 P.M. on the stadium field. No tickets are required for the outdoor ceremony. If the weather is poor, the ceremony will move indoors to the high school gymnasium. In that case, doors open at 5:00 P.M. for priority ticket holders, with general admission starting at 5:30 P.M. The ceremony will also be live-streamed, with a link posted on our website for those unable to attend in person.
We look forward to celebrating these milestones with you and your families. Please mark your calendars and reach out to the Counseling Office or Principal's Office with any questions.
