National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the nation’s premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character, and Citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with members in the organization since their beginnings in 1921.
OCS High School Faculty Advisors: Mr. Epstein & Ms. Forte
It is an honor to represent this great school and such a great organization. We look forward to helping all of you develop character and leadership as you work on your NHS service projects and volunteer your time and efforts to assist our wonderful school and community. The links to the left contain information related to the Onteora High School chapter of the National Honor Society.
According to the NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY BYLAWS, chapter advisors are NOT involved in the selection process. An anonymous Faculty Council reviews each application based on each of the four pillars and uses a rubric and consensus to confer membership.
