Onteora High School (OHS) is pleased to announce that Simon Rands is Valedictorian, Archie Lewis-Harris is Salutatorian, and Emily Peck is the Principal’s Award Winner for the Class of 2021.
OHS Principal Lance Edelman is extremely proud of these three honorees. “They possess all of the qualities that we hope for in our students,” he said. “They are exemplary students who have positive attitudes, thrive when challenged, have optimistic perspectives, and are strong student ambassadors.”
The Spring season will begin on April 19, 2021 and run to approximately the middle of June. We will host an informational meeting for all parents and athletes. A date and time will be announced after Spring break.

As of today, we have used all of our snow days. We have been monitoring this situation and our faculty is prepared to pivot to remote learning if we are unable to have in-person instruction due to inclement weather.
The Ulster BOCES Career & Technical Center will be hosting a virtual Parent/Student Information Night on Thursday, February 25. There will be two sessions: one at 5 PM, and another at 6 PM. During this virtual event, students and parents will be able to visit up to two programs (one per session), meet with school counselors and instructors, and learn about the classrooms and work labs related to the students’ professional areas of interest. Over the past few months, members of the Wind Ensemble have worked many hours on learning their parts for CRUSH. Once that was completed came the task of learning to play along with a rehearsal/click track while recording their performance. What you are hearing is the culmination of all their hard work and dedication. We hope you enjoy our first Virtual Band piece, CRUSH!
Congratulations to Archie Lewis-Harris and Maxwell Mielcarek who were selected to represent Onteora High School at the NYSSMA Conference All-State Music Festival held virtually from December 3rd through December 5th, 2020. Their selection was based upon their past NYSSMA Solo Festival scores and previous All-State participation. Max Mielcarek was selected for the All-State Symphony Orchestra on String Bass. Archie was selected for the All-State Symphonic Band on Clarinet. They competed against several other music students across the state of New York, to be selected for this prestigious honor.

Carry Me Home - This piece arranged by Joel Raney incorporates two traditional spirituals: "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" and "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot." Members of the Onteora High School Chorus worked preparing their parts individually and virtually.
During the months of January and February, Onteora High Schools National Honor Society is collecting non-perishable food items to support local food pantries. Look for donation boxes at Hannaford in West Hurley, the Boiceville Market, and at the Pine Hill Community Center.

The holiday season looks very different this year and may be causing some anxiety and sadness due to the pandemic. While providing space to hear your child’s disappointment, provide options to bring light to a hard situation. Onteora National Honor Society is raising money for Helping Hands, our community outreach program that provides funds to local families during the holiday season.

Due to health and safety precautions the PSAT has been tentatively rescheduled for January 26th. More information will be released when available.
This free webinar, scheduled for October 29 at 6:30 PM, will be hosted by Major League Baseball Certified Player Agent Mark Leinweaver. The session is designed for middle school/ high school student-athletes, parents, and coaches to discuss the college selection and athletic recruiting processes, which are taking place during a time when many sports seasons have been canceled due to the pandemic. Focusing on how “character matters,” the webinar will also discuss volunteering opportunities, the dangers of social media, and the importance of student-athletes being leaders when it comes to anti-bullying efforts. Throughout October and November, the National Honor Society will be collecting donations of NEW socks and other cold weather items like hats, gloves and scarves for Family of Woodstock. Learning Model/Calendar
All BOCES CTE programs will begin with a fully remote online learning model on September 8 and gradually phase in to hybrid model. In the hybrid model, Onteora High School students will attend their CTE program in-person on Wednesdays from 9:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M., beginning September 30.
