OHS Earns Spot on 2023 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll

Congratulations to Onteora High School, which earned a spot on the 2023 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll! The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that have done outstanding work to welcome more students into AP courses and support them on the path to college success.

Schools can earn the Honor Roll recognition annually based on their ability to increase their school’s college-going culture, to provide opportunities for students to earn college credit, and to maximize college readiness. Onteora High School had 46 percent of seniors who took at least one AP exam during high school, 34 percent of seniors scoring a three or higher on at least one AP exam, and 16 percent of seniors who took five or more AP exams. Therefore, Onteora High School achieved Bronze status!

Research shows students who take AP courses and exams are more likely to attend college and graduate on time. The students who enter four-year colleges with AP credits accelerate their path to graduation and build confidence for college success. And even for those who don’t earn college credit, AP coursework provides early exposure to college-level work and contributes to a college-going school culture.
