Onteora High School is pleased to announce the names of the recipients of this year's senior scholarships and awards. Thanks to the generosity of the Onteora community, our seniors received more than $475,000 in scholarships. Students were recognized in a wide range of areas, including music, art, business, sportsmanship, citizenship, community service, leadership, extracurricular activities, character, and academic excellence. Working collaboratively, High School administrators, the Onteora Teacher Association, and our School Resource Officer arranged for lawn signs honoring Onteora’s Class of 2021. Teachers delivered the congratulatory signs to the homes of our graduating seniors. Students who will be receiving scholarships and awards were also provided with an additional sign. The names of the recipients of each award, along with a description of each award, will be posted on the High School’s website at 7 PM on Wednesday, June 9.
During the month of May, which is Mental Health Awareness month, a school social worker and a school psychologist visited High School students in their Social Studies classes and discussed topics related to mental health, including where to find support. Each session started with reflections on and reactions to a video and music composition that was created by Class of 2021 Salutatorian Archie Lewis-Harris (https://bit.ly/34w8SoA). The presentation will be given to Middle School students on June 3 and 4.
